Teachers go to school too (2023)

In mid July 2023 Bob had the opportunity to attend the "Medal of Honor Legacy: Cold War" conference hosted by Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Keynote speakers included

Dr. Mark Thomas speaking on the "Ideology, Economics, and the Cold War",
Dr. Matthew Masur speaking on "The Vietnam War: Cold War Case Study",
Historian David Eisenhower (the grandson of President Dwight Eisenhower and son-in-law of Richard Nixon) speaking on "McCarthyism",
David Nolt (professor emeritus, Naval War College) speaking on the Cuban Missile Crisis, and
Brian Thacker (US Army), Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam War.

To supplement the classroom instruction, the class travelled to Washington, DC, to visit the Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials, the Victims of Communism Memorial Museum, and the International Spy Museum. Instruction was also given in the Medal of Honor Character Development Program. Since FFVF is adjacent to the Valley Forge National Historic Park, an optional 6 AM battlefield tour with historian Dr. Jeff Scott was offered.
