ACT 26 Affirmation

2023/2024 school year

Parents,

Many of you are aware of the tremendous increase of violence in our public school over the past decade. Gun possessions and other violent acts in high schools have even occurred in our area. The State General Assembly has taken steps to try to track students who are causing some of the problems. They are requiring public and non-public schools to have the following signed statement in each student’s file as a part of the admission process.

I affirm that my child has not been suspended or expelled from any public or private school of this Commonwealth or any other state for an act or offense involving weapons (weapons include but are not limited to, any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchaku, firearm, shotgun, rifle, and any other tool, instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury), alcohol or drugs, or for the willful infliction of injury to another person, or for any act of violence committed on school property.

This affirmation shall be maintained as part of the student’s disciplinary record.

Any willful false statement made under this section shall be a misdemeanor of the third degree.
